Monthly Meeting Minutes

January 9, 2012

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes from December 12, 2011: Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for January 2012: Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for December 2011:

  •  May 5th and 6th scholarship Candlewood Danbury has been canceled instead the 5th will be the scholarship tournament and the 6th will be the Bob Malloy tournament.
  • There is now a Zebra mussel task force.
  • Barkley is no longer giving discounts.
  • Silvia is looking for volunteers for the Hartford Boat show on the 27th, 28th, and 29th.

Tournament Report

  •  The new ramp at Bantam will not be up and running in time for our tournament on the 29th. We will be launching out of white memorial.

Old Business:

  • New Member Tarney Joyal was given all of his financial obligations, by-laws and tournament rules.

February,13 2012

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes from January 9, 2012: Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for February 2012: Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for January 2012:

  •  No meeting held.

Tournament Report

  •  Pairings will be handed out at the March meeting.
  • Dean Listed all boaters and non boaters for this season.
  • Dean mentioned about looking into making the Alabama rig legal or illegal.
  • It was mentioned that there is a wounded warrior tournament the week prior to our tournament on candlewood. A motion was made that we open pre fish until May 9th for the candlewood tournament. Motion was then passed.

Old Business:

  • Looking for boaters and non boaters for the wounded warrior tournament on May 8th and 9th  dinner to follow at the Danbury launch. Call Al at 203-213-9613 for more information.

New Business:

  • Dean mention to the group of a new way to make money for the club. Seeing the decrease amount of vendors at fishing shows due to the economy. He mention that maybe next year we hold a new and used fishing tag sale. We would get local vendors to buy tables and make presentations on their new and latest lures/equipment.
  • Steve then made an announcement that Bass Pro Shops are no longer making the #13 tender tube. He also mentioned that they are no longer making any tube in a 25 pack. Dean then called Bass Pro Shops to make a formal complaint. Steve then asked the group who would be interested to go in with Steve if he were to order them from his supplier.

March, 12 2012

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes from February ,13 2012: Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for March 2012: Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for February 2012:

  •  Fed trail is not banning the Alabama Rig.
  •  Tungsten weight.com is offering a 20% discount for all members CTBASS is the code to receive your discount from their website.
  • Kistler  is also offer rods from $250 to $99.
  • Fed Banquet is going to be held on November 10 at the chowder pot in Hartford.
  • The Fed is also looking for members to help out at all tournaments.

Tournament Report

  •    Pairs will be held at the next meeting.
  • A motion was made and passed that as long as it is legal in the state of CT to use the Alabama Rig is legal to use in our tournament trail.

Old Business:

  • The 24th will be the raffle drawing at Reynolds Marine.

New Business:

  • New Sponsor Dig in Anchor if you mention what club you are in he will return 5% of the price to the club.
  • Armand brought in some new Keitech lures form Castle Baits. He also raffled one of the new Alabama Rigs to the group and Greg was the lucky winner.
  • Armand then told the members that they can receive 10% off in the month of April from Castle Baits.

April, 9 2012

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes from March,12 2012: Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for April 2012: Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for March 2012:

  • Midstate batteries are now a sponsor for the Fed.
  • Shakespeare is also a new sponsor go to their web site and use the pass code TACKLE SHACK2012.
  • The Kerchell tournament will be on April 30th
  • The Keitech team tournaments will be on April 25th, May 4, and May11th.
  • The Fed is looking at making a by-law change, they are thinking of removing the raffle and have the dues to $50.
  • A motion was then made and passed that we are in favor of having the change to remove the raffle and raise the dues to $50.

Tournament Report

  •    The grid was set by the members by drawing numbers.
  • The first tournament will be on Bantam at 6am we will meet at the RT8 lot at 4:30.
  • The order of the start was drawn.
  • The next tournament will be on Candlewood at 8am we will meet at the exit 10 diner at 5:30 to eat breakfast and leave there by 6:30.
  • The order of the start was then drawn by the members.

Old Business:

  •  none

New Business:

  • There is a new lead law in Mass no lead under 1oz no length.
  • We are looking to schedule the club picnic on July 8th, Aug 5th or 26th we will decide by the June meeting.
  • A motion was made and passed that the club buys breakfast but the member must pick up the tip.
  • Another motion was made that due to rising gas prices that we change tournament rule N. to: the Non-Boater must pay the boater $30. The motion did not pass 9 to 8.
  • Another motion was made that the amount be changed to $25. That motion was passed 13 to 4.
