Monthly Meeting Minutes

January 10, 2011

 The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes for December 13, 2010:            Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for December, 2010:            Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for December 2010:

  • Dave Santos is looking for donations (rods and reels) for the river fund recapture.
  • The 2 day this year is going to be out of Hadem on the river.
  • Cast and Kids is due in the middle of March.
  • CT Bass Fed now has a facebook page.

Tournament Report:

All tournaments are set.

 Old Business:

From last meeting it was tabled to have the by-laws changed: for the fiscal year for the club to run from November to November. Tom O is going to look into sending information to all club members.

New Business:

Greg mentioned to the group that this year’s PVA will be on September 10th to the 11th  on lake Winnipesaukee.

  • Tickets are due to Papa Ron by February’s meeting, and that any member that wishes to pay dues ahead that payment is due by the 31st.
  • It was mentioned during the meeting that a member still owns the club $50 for the Christmas banquet.
  • If any member overpaid on last years fishing license they can go to the fishing shows in Hartford and Springfield Mass. to receive the discounted license this year. Or they can go to the CT web site and mail in the proper forms.

February 14, 2011

 The Meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes for January11, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for February, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for January 2011:

  • The Bass website is now updated daily. It is now easier to print your own membership cards.
  • Rule #6 regarding the operation of kill switches will be enforced strictly this upcoming season. All boats must have a working kill switch.
  • The 2011 scholarship tournament will be held on Candlewood Lake on May 1st out of Danbury Town Park.
  • Raffle Tickets are due at the next meeting in February.
  • Any clubs that would like to host cast for kids must contact Terry Baksay ASAP.
  • The wounded warrior sports project will take place at Riverside Park in Hartford August 10-11, Joe Kowalski needs 10 boats each day. If you are interested please contact Joe.
  • The Fed is having a contest to gets new members to join. Any current member who gets a new member to join will get their name placed into a drawing to win a guided trip on candlewood with Terry Baksay.

Tournament Report:

All tournaments are set and planned for 2011.

 Old Business:

After a brief discussion the membership decided to have the decision of a 3 fish limit or a 5 fish limit decided by the tournament director on the basis of the weather conditions.

New Business:

After a discussion the membership decided to place a member’s name on a extra set of raffle tickets even though he had lost his tickets but paid the $50.00 for them.

  • There will be a tag sale on the following dates: 2/26 at the Fire Department on Main St. in Newington CT. 3/12 Plainville VFW

It was tabled on talk of changing the bi-laws about collecting and issuing raffle tickets.

 The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes for February 14, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for March, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for February 2010:

  • 30% off the following websites: Berkly.com, Abugarcia.com, Fenwick.com, Stren.com, Spiderwire.com. Password BASSFED011 (all caps)
    • Glasses: Numaoptics.com- Password CBFN2011 (all Caps).
    • Triton Boats are now the premier supplier.
    • DEP is enforcing Zebra Mussel rules at tournaments on Candlewood. Boaters must read and sign document prior to launch at FED tournaments.
    • There will be no lead ban this year.

Tournament Report

  • Boaters are confirmed and the grid was set for the year and will be posted on the web site.

 Old Business:

By-law changes were discussed and notifications will go out to members via e-mail. Vote to take place at next months meeting.

  • Donations for rods and reels will be collected at next months meeting for the CBFN.

New Business:

The FLW will be at the Wal-Mart  in Wallingford at 1pm .

April 11, 2011

  The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM

Mohawk Valley BassCasters Meeting Minutes for March14, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Treasurers Report for April, 2011:            Read and Accepted.

Connecticut Federation Nation Report for March 2011:

  • The Kerchel Tournament that was scheduled for April 30th has been cancelled.
  • Us Reel is now offering the same package deal as they did last year for two reels.
  • The raffle prize has changed from a boat to gift cards to increase profit.

Tournament Report

  • The first tournament on Lake Candlewood is April 30th and we are meeting at the exit 10 diner at 6:15, and the tournament is scheduled 7:30-3:30.
  • The membership then selected the order for the tournament.
  • Tournament Director Dean reminded the membership that Sam and himself along with their non-boaters will come in first to set up for the weight in. Dean also reminded the membership that they need to have a black bag to come to the scale.

 Old Business:

  • By law changes were voted on by the member ship. The first: All club dues are to be paid up to date at the November meeting. This will give an accurate count for rosters and dues that have to be submitted in December. Any Member not up to date at this time will be considered “NOT IN GOODSTANDING” Should the member choose to stay active the Fed and State dues would be their burden. PASSED 13 yes -2 no
  • The Second By law change: To comply with CBFN By-Laws standing rule 11 the members of MVBC shall: Select a Raffle Chairman. Members shall be responsible to acquire 10 tickets from and return 10 ticket stubs and monies to the Raffle Chairman. The Raffle Chairman shall select a regular monthly meeting date when all ticket stubs and monies are due meeting the time frame of standing rule 11.There will be no excuses or exceptions. Failure to comply will result in termination of membership. PASSED. 16 yes – 0 No
  • Dean advised the membership that the DEP will be checking for weeds that may be on your trailer or boat prior to launch at Candlewood. Dean also informed the members that each boater must sign a form stating that their boat has not been in a body of water that contains Zebra Mussels within 15 days. If they have been in a body of water that contains Zebra Mussels they must have cleaned their boat.

New Business:

Ed McCray has sent in a letter asking for a leave of absence from the club which was granted for one year.

  • Dean then read a letter from Jim Rustic asking to resign from the club. Greg Mazur then made a motion to reject the letter of resignation pending one last tournament that Jim must attend. The motion was then seconded and passed.
    • Carl has announced that he is leaving the club effective May 1st.
    • A Motion was then made and passed that Carl be listed as a social member of the club.
